Li-ion battery removal and replacement

Searched online and within IFixit: saw earlier question here closed 3 days ago. Was going to join and add some info. My UE boom came with instructions on how to remove the battery, ostensibly for disposal but likely a tacit hint on future replacement.

You delicately pry the rubber portion starting at the opposite end of the +- side. With that removed there is a bracket with two screws holding the li-ion battery in. Remove these and disconnect the connector (a connector is pretty indicative of the tacit part of my theory here) take out the battery.

My UE boom is brand spanking new and I too am frustrated with the claimed inability to R/R. I am hoping someone has an otherwise inop one and wants to get the battery out and check it for charged voltage and/or look at it closely. It is unlikely if not impossible that UE commissioned a truly one size/capacity battery for this product. I bet there are easy to get replacements out there.

When my UE boom gets a little older I'll open it up and do some research: til then maybe someone else has the opportunity.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I opened it up - the rubber plate (on the side with the USB plug and line-in jack) is attached to a plastic cover that clips into the boom. with a flat-head screwdriver you can gently pry that plastic cover off, you'll hear a click for each of the 2 tongues as they are disengaged. Be gentle.

Now Rick is correct: it's a 18560 battery.

the problem is that these clowns at logitech glued together the plastic and then wrapped it with the fabric, also glued. the batter has a plug connector and comes only part-way out - being blocked by the main plastic body. you could clip the wires - there were four, I believe.

In the end, this is major surgery on a unit that was never intended to be disassembled. Bummer really - making the battery replacable would have been so easy :(

I had the plastic and the rubber separated but the end and the bottom. the flat parts where are the power button on one side and 3.5mm jack/usb is impossible to remove.
